Tyler Clippard breaks news of own trade by changing Twitter bio

A source close to Tyler Clippard says the ex-Yankee reliever will soon be traded to the Astros.

Also, that source just so happens to be Tyler Clippard himself.

The 32-year-old righthander took matters into his own hands Sunday, breaking the news of his own impending trade by changing his Twitter bio to read: “Play baseball for the Houston Astros for my profession. Live in Tampa FL in the offseason, love golfing in my spare time.”

Clippard, however, currently plays for the White Sox, after he was previously dealt by the Yankees at the trade deadline.

FOX Sports first reported the Astros were attempting to acquire Clippard just minutes before Clippard “reported” the news himself.

The Yankees traded Clippard, outfield prospect Blake Rutherford and minor-leaguers Ian Clarkin and Tito Polo to the White Sox to acquire first baseman Todd Frazier, and relievers David Robertson and Tommy Kahnle.

Despite Clippard’s Twitter bio saying otherwise, as of late Sunday evening, the reliever is still a member of the White Sox as no trade has been finalized just yet.
