The Texans – Cowboys preseason game scheduled for Thursday night — with its proceeds going to Harvey relief funds — has been cancelled.
The move was made so the Texans could go home to rejoin their families, according to the Houston Chroncile, with some roads clearing enough to allow the travel.
The Houston squad hasn’t been in the city since last Wednesday, working out at the Cowboys’ practice facility the past two days.
More than 40,000 tickets had reportedly been sold at $25 each for the 7 p.m. matchup that was moved from NRG Stadium to AT&T Stadium, and fans who bought tickets can either receive a refund or have it count as a donation to the United Way.
The Texans’ first game of the regular season is Sept. 10 against the Jaguars at NRG Stadium, which has remained undamaged by Harvey flooding and acted as a shelter.
