Man arrested after dispute leads to East Oakland shooting

OAKLAND — Investigators were searching an East Oakland house after a dispute led to a shooting, authorities said Monday evening.

Around 5 p.m., a group of people in the 2400 block of 66th Avenue got into a dispute over an unknown matter, Oakland police Officer Johnna Watson said.

One person produced a gun and fired several shots at another in the group, hitting a nearby house but missing any people. The gunman then fled into a nearby home, Watson said.

Officers who responded to the scene were able to establish communication with the gunman, who surrendered and was taken into custody around 6:30 p.m..
