EL CERRITO — The city this week announced that the pre-application period for prospective tenants at the Hana Gardens Senior Housing facility will open at 10 a.m. Jan. 16 and close at 5 p.m. Jan. 21.
The 63-unit mixed-use senior affordable housing community is now under construction next to City Hall at the 40,000-square-foot former Tradeway Furniture site at 10860 San Pablo Ave. and nonprofit developer Eden Housing expects the project to open next summer.
There will be 23 units have been designated for households with income at or below 30 percent of the area median income (just under $22,000 a year for a single-person household), eight units designated for households with incomes at or below 45 percent of the area median income (just under $33,000 a year) and 31 units for households with income at or below 50 percent of area medium income (about $36,500 a year).
Incomplete or partially completed forms will not be accepted. Pre-applications are available at www.contracostahousing.org under the “Project-based voucher list” link, and must be submitted online. For more details contact the Contra Costa Housing Authority at 925-957-7001.
